Recently, Tan Hui , Mr. Zhang Peigang's wife and honorary Director of Zhang Peigang Development Economics Research Foundation, wrote the name of the school from Mr. Zhang Peigang's manuscript ——"香江商学院"，which is a gift to encourage us.

Mr. Zhang Peigang is a famous economist and the founder of development economics. His doctoral thesis, Agriculture and Industrialization, was the world's first historical and theoretical systematic study of how agricultural countries or economically backward countries achieve industrialization and economic development, and won the Harvard University's 1946-1947 Best paper award in economics and the David Welsh Award.

In October 1992, the "Zhang Peigang Development Economics Research Foundation" was established, focusing on conducting research on development economics and China's economic development, organizing academic conferences related to development economics, and rewarding individuals with innovative research results and outstanding contributions in the fields related to development economics.

The founding philosophy of Hong Kong Graduate School of Business is "Knowing and action Leads far through the west and East", which is in line with the "Based in China, facing the world" advocated by Mr. Zhang Peigang. Hong Kong Graduate School of Business will stand at a new starting point in history, continue to explore the theory and practice of economics and finance, and make unremitting efforts to draw the blueprint of China's industrialization modernization and financial system development under the new international pattern.
