2025-08-01

The Hong Kong Business School (HBS) - Doctor of Business Administration Program (collaborated with Josai International University) Hong Kong Module: Web3 and Digital Asset Analysis was held on July 26-27 at the Hong Kong Teaching Center, with students participating in intensive learning.

A teaching team composed of doctoral supervisors from the Business School, senior scholars from universities, and experts in the financial sector shared their expertise comprehensively. The content included lectures, research discussions, and case studies, balancing both theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Professor Wang Yang, Vice President of the University of Hong Kong and former Vice President and Chair Professor of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, delivered a lecture titled "Web3 and AI: Opportunities and Challenges."

Professor Wang explored the intersection of Web3 and Artificial Intelligence (AI), analyzing the transformative potential and challenges arising from their synergy. The lecture examined regulatory complexities in technological integration, envisioned Hong Kong's role in the innovative fusion of "digital finance + AI," and, through case studies, explained investment and research directions in this cutting-edge field.

Dr. Yu Jianing, Doctoral Supervisor of Hong Kong Business School and President of Hong Kong Uweb (University of Web3), delivered a lecture titled "Overview of Web3 Digital Assets."

Starting from the underlying logic of Web3, President Yu systematically explained the classification of digital assets (such as NFTs, DeFi tokens, governance tokens, etc.), their technical foundations (blockchain, smart contracts), and ecosystem applications. The lecture covered mainstream assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum, and discussed the opportunities and challenges in emerging sectors.

Mr. Lu Yanzhang (Todd Lu), Senior Investment Strategist at Avenir Group, delivered lectures to the students, including "Off-Chain Macroeconomics: Trend Analysis of USD Risk Assets and Digital Assets Based on US Monetary and Fiscal Policies" and "On-Chain Macroeconomics: Trend Forecasting of Digital Assets Based On-Chain Data Analysis."

The Off-Chain Macroeconomics course focused on the impact of US monetary and fiscal policies on global financial markets. It provided an in-depth analysis of the Fed's interest rate hike/cut cycles, fiscal deficit scales, and the effects of policy shifts on market liquidity, helping students understand how macroeconomic variables drive asset price fluctuations.

The On-Chain Macroeconomics course emphasized using on-chain data (such as exchange fund flows, changes in large holdings, etc.) to predict market trends, identify "smart money" movements, pinpoint market sentiment inflection points, and detect potential risk signals, thereby enabling more precise investment decisions in the highly volatile digital asset market.

Designed to provide practical value to financiers and entrepreneurs in the Asia-Pacific region.
